About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking Field Biologists to join our team in Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George. This position will start on February 28, 2025.

This is a Full Time Hourly position with a wage range of $30.00 – $46.88 per hour, depending on experience.

The successful candidates must reside in or be willing to move to one of the locations mentioned above.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control).
  • Travelling and working in remote locations for extended periods of time.
  • Liaising with regulators and clients to provide quality work that engages Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
  • Primarily field-based role with both field and office tasks (e.g., data entry, daily and weekly reporting).
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture

Qualifications include:

  • To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in a similar field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in industrial projects (experience as a consultant would be an asset).
  • RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designations are considered assets.
  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection).
  • Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, and work closely with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
  • Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) and other relevant certificates are assets.

Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver’s License.
