About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking Archaeological Crew Leads to join our team in Fort St. James, Prince George, and Whitehorse. This position is planned to start in April 2025.

This is an Full-Hourly position with a wage range of $30 – $36 per hour, depending on experience. The successful candidates must reside in or be willing to move to one of the locations mentioned above.  Transitionary crew housing is available to successful crew lead candidates relocating to one of our offices.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading field reconnaissance and archaeological impact assessments for oil and gas, hydro,
    forestry, transportation, and other industries.
  • Identifying areas of archaeological potential and archaeological sites.
  • Collecting data and conducting data management.
  • Following permit requirements.
  • Working in collaboration with local First Nations.
  • Writing interim reports and communicating with Field Directors and Permit Holders.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture

Qualifications include:

  • An undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, or a relevant
    discipline, and minimum of one year experience, is required.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow the business, and work closely with
    other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
  • Experience in Cultural Resource Management (previous experience crew leading in CRM would
    be considered an asset but not required).
  • Familiarity with the provincial heritage assessment regulatory environment in British
    Columbia and/or Yukon.
  • Experience with handheld GPS units, mapping software, pedestrian survey, subsurface
    testing, excavation and systematic data collection, and field note taking.
  • Ability to conduct strenuous fieldwork in a variety of field conditions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe software.
  • Willingness to travel for work and stay in remote accommodations.
  • Skills with snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs are an asset.

Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver’s License.
