As a Crew Lead, you will take on a leadership role in the field, guiding crews through archaeological excavations, surveys, and site assessments while ensuring work is conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards. You will be responsible for mentoring and training entry-level staff in field techniques, documentation, and safety protocols, helping to foster a collaborative and productive team environment. Your role includes managing equipment, maintaining proper organization and records, and addressing day-to-day challenges as they arise. You’ll also maintain regular communication with Field Directors, Permit Holders, and Project Managers, providing timely updates. This position offers a strong opportunity to build leadership experience while contributing to high-quality heritage resource management.
What You’ll be Responsible for
What Will Help You Succeed:
Our ideal candidate brings two to five years of experience in archaeological fieldwork, with a solid background in supervising crews and coordinating activities on surveys, excavations, and site assessments. You hold a degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, and have either completed a recognized field school or gained equivalent practical training. You are a clear communicator with strong organizational and leadership skills, capable of guiding junior staff and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. You are confident handling field challenges, comfortable working in remote or physically demanding environments, and bring strong attention to detail in documentation and data collection.
Position requires: Criminal Record Check, Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Language Requirement: Fluent in English

Wage Range: This is an Hourly position with a target hiring range of $29.43 to $36.20 per year. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate’s unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices.
Location: The successful candidates must reside in or be willing to move to one of the locations mentioned above.
